The sapwood and heartwood vary from yellow-white to white-red colour. This wood ranges from soft to medium hardness, and it is of medium weight, elastic and stable. It has good stability, it contracts slightly, and it is easy to dry and process. Transversal cuts result in oval knobs.
Contraction percentage (1% of alternation in the level of humidity following the direction of the heart rays) 0.12-0.19% while in the direction of yearly rings it is 0.24-0.33%
Pine wood is harder and heavier than fir wood.
Quality U/S
Pine wood of excellent quality without any diametrical marks. Some small and healthy knobs or limited cyanosis are allowed
Quality V
Widely used wood with small, healthy and some shed knobs, extended cyanosis and some lines.
