Allocation and availability
It is found in all eastern USA. Even though cherry trees constitute less than 2% of the developing hard wood resources, they are widely available in a wide range of specifications and qualities, both as ΠΡΙΣΤΗtimber and as veneers.
The heartwood colour of American cherry trees ranges from vivid red to red brown and becomes darker when exposed to light. The wood has smooth texture and may contain brown spots and small gum pocks. Cherry wood is of medium density with very good bending properties.
Main uses:
Furniture and cupboard construction, high quality carpentry, kitchen cupboards, decorations, frames, flooring, doors, boat interior, music instruments, lathes and hew pieces.
